WordPress 404 Redirect

WordPress plugin to redirect 404 URLs to a specified URL via a redirect.

Installation

1. Download the latest release here
2. Install & activate
3. Configure target URL and enable under Settings -> 404 Redirect

Purpose

You don't want Googlebot to encounter too many 404 errors. There are even negative SEO attacks that take advantage of this problem.

While some people 301 redirect 404 URLs to the home page, a 307 or 302 redirect to a custom error page like /404/ or /not-found/ may be more appropriate.

Whatever you prefer can be done with this plugin: you can select the redirect type you prefer.
